The short version
- Free 14-day trial. We ask for a card up front. You pay $0 today, though your bank may briefly show a temporary $1 card check that drops off on its own.
- Premium trials can sell; Artist-plan trials can’t.
- We email you at least 3 days before the trial ends. Cancel before then and you pay nothing; otherwise your plan starts and your card is charged.
- Memberships renew automatically. Cancel anytime in your Studio. If you cancel within 7 days of a yearly renewal, you get a full refund.
- 0% commission from us. Stripe’s card processing fee (2.9% + 30¢ for Canadian cards, more for international cards) is deducted from each sale. Payouts go to your bank through Stripe.
- You’re the seller: you set your prices, shipping and returns, and you charge and remit any sales tax on your art. We collect GST on your membership.
- You keep your copyright. We only use your images to promote your listings and the marketplace, and paid ads need your opt-in.
This summary is here to help. The full text below is what governs.
This agreement is between you (the artist) and Artistry Boutique (“we”). Artistry Boutique is run by Chewie Media Inc., a company in British Columbia, Canada. It applies on top of our Terms of Use and Artist Guidelines.
1. Plans and prices
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly | Can sell? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Artist | $14.99 | $129 | No: a public artist page and portfolio only |
| Premium | $19.99 | $179 | Yes: originals and prints, 0% commission from us (Stripe’s card fee of 2.9% + 30¢ for Canadian cards, more for international, is deducted from each sale) |
Prices are in CAD and do not include tax. GST/HST, and PST where it applies, is calculated from your province and shown at checkout before you pay. We collect and remit this tax on your membership. Our GST/HST registration number: [GST/HST no. to come].
2. Free trial
- New members get a 14-day free trial. One trial per artist.
- We ask for a card at sign-up. You pay $0 today. To check the card, a temporary $1.00 hold may appear on your statement. It isn’t a charge and drops off on its own, usually within a few days depending on your bank.
- Before you start, the checkout page shows the date your trial ends and the exact amount you’ll be charged, including tax.
- If you choose the Premium plan, you can sell during the trial: your pieces can be bought as soon as they’re published and your Stripe payouts are set up, just like after the trial. Artist-plan trials can’t sell.
- We email you a reminder at least 3 days before the trial ends, with the charge date, the exact amount with tax, and the card that will be charged, and how to cancel.
- Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your card is charged automatically on the end date for the plan you chose.
- If you cancel during the trial, you pay nothing for the membership, and any sales you made are still yours. When a cancelled trial ends, your artist page and artwork are hidden from the public. They are kept for 90 days so you can restart and get them back.
3. Automatic renewal
Your membership renews automatically at the end of each month or year at the then-current price, plus tax, until you cancel. For yearly plans, we email you a renewal reminder at least 30 days before renewal with the date and amount. If we change prices, we will email you at least 30 days before the new price applies, and you can cancel before then.
4. Cancelling
- Cancel anytime in your Studio under Membership → Cancel, or by emailing hello@artistryboutique.com. No phone call or extra steps needed.
- We confirm the cancellation by email.
- After you cancel, you won’t be charged again. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for. After that, your page and art are hidden (not deleted), and you can restart at any time.
5. Refunds of membership fees
Membership fees are not refunded for partial periods, except where the law requires it or if you cancel within 7 days of a yearly renewal charge, we’ll refund it in full.
6. Failed payments
If a renewal payment fails, we’ll email you and retry for up to 14 days. If it still fails, your page and art are hidden until you update your card.
7. Selling (Premium)
- You are the seller. You set prices, shipping and returns, and you are responsible for the accuracy of your listings, for shipping each order with tracking within your stated processing time, and for honouring your return policy and our minimum buyer protections on the Shipping & Returns page.
- Sales tax on artwork is your responsibility. If you are registered for GST/HST (or required to be), you must charge and remit it. Small suppliers under CA$30,000 a year generally don’t need to register; check with the CRA or your accountant.
- Payouts are made by Stripe to your bank through Stripe Connect. To receive payouts, you must connect a Stripe account and agree to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement. Stripe will verify your identity.
- Fees: We take 0% commission. Stripe’s card processing fee (2.9% + 30¢ for Canadian cards; more for international cards and currency conversion) is deducted from each sale before payout. This is the only cost on a sale. See our FAQ.
- We may hold or reverse a payout if an order is refunded, charged back or reported as fraud.
8. Your content and licence
You keep all rights in your work. You give us the limited licence described in section 8 of the Terms of Use: we only use your images to show and promote your own listings and the marketplace (site, emails and our own social posts), never to sell them or train AI. Paid ads featuring your work need your opt-in, which is off by default. The licence ends when you remove a piece, except for posts already published.
You’re free to sell and take commissions anywhere else, including by email. If a buyer first contacted you through an Artistry Boutique listing or message, please complete that specific purchase through the site (see section 12A of the Terms). You confirm you own or have permission for everything you upload, and that your listings follow the Indigenous-made and mature-content rules in the Artist Guidelines.
9. Emails
We send you account, trial, billing and order emails as part of your membership. Marketing emails (news, tips, promotions) are only sent with your consent, and every one has an unsubscribe link, under Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
10. Suspension and closing
We may suspend or close an account that breaks this agreement, the Terms or the Guidelines. For serious breaches (fraud, infringement, misrepresentation of Indigenous-made work, illegal content) we may act immediately. Otherwise we’ll warn you first. If we close your account without cause, we’ll refund the unused part of your fee.
